Finally getting some projects done.

Big sigh .... I'm finally getting around to some of the little projects I have been meaning to do for some time now. Its such a great feeling to accomplish something and I really needed to clean my craft room of some clutter so I can start my Christmas projects.

So here are some really quick projects that I did. It took me about a hour to do all 3.

Project #1
I have so many ideas that I had clipped out of old magazines. I also had so many old stamping up catalogs that I sat for a while and picked out some of my favorite cards and cut them out. I pasted them on index cards and made tabs for each category out of my small circle punch.
Here is a pic of some of the tabs I made. I also wrote some quotes that I came across on the index cards (I always have a hard time coming up with things to write in my cards)
The finished project the total cost was $3 (index cards .50, box $1 and i figured I used about $1.50 of my materials from home.

Project #2
This was not on my plans to do today, but my daughter asked me this morning when her birthday was so we went to the calendar and counted .(But all mothers know that's not the end of the asking) so I thought to save me from hearing the questions a billions times I would make a count down to her birthday. And hey its going to be motivating to me to.
It was so easy and I think its cute she is going to be surprised when she gets home from school today.
I used some stampin up card stock, Martha Stewart chalkboard labels, cupcake sizzix die and I glued the paper on a piece of thick cardboard added a ribbon and there you have it. I know what you are all saying 57 days really we need to start counting, that's my daughter she is just like her mommy. FYI my birthday is in 41 days.

Project #3

I saw this project on pinterest so I pinned it and went on like everyone does. Then a few weeks ago I went back and looked at it and I instantly knew I had to do this. You can find this project on www.witandwhistle.com Amanda did a amazing job but here is my version of her Calendar Journal

A calendar journal includes a card for each day of the year. Everyday you write down the year and one thing you did that day. I cheated and instead of writing the day and year I stamp it. But you can do whatever you want. I still have to finish it since I stopped at March. But I got till December to finish it so I'm all good. Lets just hope that I stay up with this cause I think that its a awesome idea.

I hope that you all enjoy my projects and get inspired to finish some of your own.
Oh and if you find time don't forget to check Amanda's website out she has some awesome ideas.

See you soon.

Christmas is coming, are you ready?

Ugh my title tells it all.... yup Christmas is coming there is only 75 days left. EEK!!!!!!! If you are like me you are thinking about what to buy the kids and family oh and lets not forget our husbands (mine is by far the hardest person in the world to buy for). You got Christmas cards, cookies to bake, parties to plan and you might be shopping already (if  you are a early bird like me) and with all this comes the never ending receipts and list galore and you try everything in you to keep it all organized by shoving it in your purse or any where you can to keep the kids from not seeing it. I was so done with being unorganized for Christmas every year so I saw a pin on pinterest and someone made a Christmas planner and I thought Genus why haven't I thought of that....
So here is my Christmas 2012 Planner
This is a small 5x8 3 ring binder that I found at the Dollar store (I ended up buying like 5 more just cause I loved the size) Cut a piece of scrapbook paper and slide it into the clear pocket on the front. Printed out the words using publisher (my best friend).

I have 6 dividers Calendar, Gifts, Brooke (my daughter), Holiday Traditions, Baking and Shopping. I also added 2 clear pockets in the back for coupons and receipts.

Here is what I made to go in the gift section. I image searched google for planner page ideas and I found one and I took a little from it and added my own. I used my good old friend Publisher. I wanted to make sure that I had a spot to put the size clothes that they might be wearing its always so hard to remember your extended families sizes.

Here is my daughters section I put her Christmas list and also the gift log of what I have bought for her already.

These are the pockets I was talking about earlier. I bought them at staples for .99 each and they were a perfect size. So before you head to the store make sure you put your coupons in the pocket.

One of my favorite sections is the holiday traditions, I have a sheet that I made on publisher with 4 different sections 1. Movies (put your families favorites so you can watch them through the season) 2. Books (everyone has a favorite Christmas story and this way if your child read one a school but you don't have it at home you can jot it down here and head to your local library) 3. Music and 4. Wish List (here is where I will put our wishes of things to do as a family this season- caroling, lights on the lake, movie night, etc).

I made one for my mom also (I like hers better than the one I made for me) instead of buying dividers I made my own from card stock added some stickers and made a tab from my small circle punch. I gave her almost all the same dividers accept added a section for each grandchild and a pocket so she can put the receipt for that grandchild in the pocket.

So get your girl friends or sisters together and make your own version. I had so much fun with it and I hope you do it.

Little Bit of God

Do you ever feel like your life is spinning and you can't keep up with it??? The piles of laundry won't stop, cleaning (man how does one house get so messy?), kids, school functions, Bills, errands, cooking (yup that's important, although I swear I can live on cereal, my family might have other thoughts), family gatherings, the dog (oops he needs to be feed more than once a week), the car needs a oil change, don't forget to go grocery shopping and the list goes on and on. Then it all hits you, you have a hard time concentrating cause your just emotionally and physically drained. Your tired and feeling all alone. I have been feeling a little like that this week ...... well ALOT like that.
I couldn't sleep this morning (really no big surprise) my alarm wasn't set to go off for another hour so I went down stairs and curled up on the couch with a blanket and my ipod. I was hoping to maybe play a game and be able to fall back to sleep for a bit, that's when I heard that still small voice saying "Come to Me and I will give you rest". Ok God I really just need to sleep I'll read my bible when my alarm goes off. Yup I kept hearing it. OK God I'm up..... I opened my Bible and my devotional and started to read.

Jesus Calling by Sarah Young (its amazing )
Pg 222

Trust Me in the depths of your being. It is there that I live in constant communion with you. When you feel flustered and frazzled on the outside, do not get up set with yourself . You are only human, and the swirl of events going on all around you will sometimes feel overwhelming. Rather that scolding yourself for your humanness, remind yourself that I am both with you and within you.
I am with you all all times, encouraging and supportive rather than condemning. I know that deep within you, where i live, My peace is your continual experience. Slow down your pace of living for a time. Quiet your mind in My presence. Then you will be able to hear Me bestowing the resurrection blessing: Peace be with you.

Matthew 28:20

Ok, Hello God I'm listening now ........
Its so easy in the midst of everything to forget how much God really loves us and understands what we need. REST. So I encourage you today when life gets too much, call out to God and he is right there.

Lets get crafty

We just moved a few months ago ( my husband had a job relocation) and since its the first place we ever moved besides out of our parents house. I wanted to do all new decor, but I hate paying the money for it (especially since I change my mind on how I want to decorate all the time, I blame HGTV). So I got on Pinterest (ok I'm obsessed with it) to see what ideas I could get , and of course there was so many that it was so hard to choose( well I had to choose otherwise I would have had to get a loan and a truck to get all the supplies back to my house).
We moved to a very small town that is kind of in the country (OK I have COWS in my back yard) and the house is really old so I had to come up with some decor that would go with the feel of the house and with what I like.
Here is what I came up with for my dining room, it was already painted this god ugly golden yellow (now I'm a yellow fan just not this yellow) I got some 12x12 canvas (i got a pack of 4 for $6.99 at hobby lobby and I used my 40% off coupon) painted them chocolate brown, mod podged scrapbook paper to them ( I found that there was a lot of bubbles and it was hard to get them out I did the best I could, like I have already stated I'm not MARTHA STEWART) and then I went rummaging through my mothers linens to find a doily (THANK GOD FOR MY MOTHER THAT KEEPS EVERYTHING) cause it fit perfectly. And there you have it!
                                                                            Love it!

Ok so are you bored with me yet cause I have a lot more to show. Hey I got to get this all out of the way so I can start on my fall decor.

This is by far my favorite and the easiest. Remember when I told you I went on a scavenger hunt at my mothers well I found a huge box of picture frames too, so of course I took a few. THANKS MOM!
I painted it with some antique white paint that I had in my craft room. Punched out a bunch of butterflies from my die machine (no its not the big shot I'm hoping that my husband with get it for me for  my birthday this year hint hint!!!!) glued them onto card stock and voila. Great way to add  color to boring walls.

Almost done I promise......

Now for the Kitchen, Yes the ugly golden yellow walls are in there too. Lets all say it together POOR ME!! Anyways, painted the frames the antique white, used some designer card stock I got from hobby lobby for the two smaller frames, tore some pages out of a old cook book. The wall was still pretty bare so I painted some wooden utensils added a ribbon and hung them too.

this was the last one I did cause it took the longest, I got the quote from Pinterest and went to town in publisher to make it my own, added the hearts using my stampin up heart punch and glued it on to chocolate card stock.

I hope that you all got inspired to make some of your home decor, its really fun and easy.

Oh and follow me on Pinterest cause I have all these projects and more to come.
